Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs
Question 1: Are your services covered by Alberta Health Care? Answer: Our services are not covered by Alberta Health Care. We accept debit, e-transfer, and Mastercard/ Visa. The services you receive may be eligible for reimbursement via your private health insurance (e.g., Blue Cross).
Question 2: Do you provide direct billing to private health insurance companies (e.g., Blue Cross)? Answer: For certain services and certain providers, we are able to provide direct-billing to participating private insurance companies. Payment for service is expected at the end of your appointment, or as arranged with your counsellor prior to the scheduling of appointments. A receipt for our services will be provided at the end of the appointment, which you can submit to your private health insurer for reimbursement. Please check with your health insurance provider in advance of accessing our services to verify your coverage.
Question 3: What are the fees/costs for your services? Answer: Counselling/therapy services are $220 per 50-minute session. Counselling sessions for individuals are typically 50 minutes in length. Family-therapy sessions, where several members are in attendance, range between 50-80 minutes in length. Assessments, depending on their nature may be longer and the specific fees for assessment services will be reviewed directly with your counsellor prior to scheduling such services. A fully itemized list of services and costs are available on request.
Question 4: Do you provide online and in-person (face-to-face) services? Answer: Yes, we provide both in-person (face-to-face) counselling, and online services. Our online services are provided via a secure online platform. Currently, our services are only offered to residents of Alberta who are geographically located in Alberta during the time of the scheduled appointment(s).
Question 5: Do you offer evening and/or weekend appointments? Answer: Yes, our services are available during a range of times/days.
Question 6: Do I need to be referred to your services by my family doctor or pediatrician? Answer: Our counselling services are self-referral and do not require a referral from your family doctor/pediatrician. We are always open to collaborating with other professionals, if helpful, and with appropriate consent/assent.
Question 7: What is your policy related to cancellation or missed appointments? Answer: We request 48-hours notice to reschedule an appointment, to allow our counsellors to offer that specific appointment time to another young person/family in need of our services. To avoid being charged for a missed appointment, we require at least 24-hours notice. If you are running late for a scheduled appointment, please contact your counsellor to update them on your circumstances, as this will help alleviate any concerns regarding your well-being and help them plan how best to approach a shortened counselling session. Please note that late appointments will end at the originally scheduled time, to respect the appointments of other clients whose session may follow your appointment. Please note that for shortened session, due to lateness, clients are required to cover the cost for the full time of their scheduled appointment. If more than half of the session is missed, the counsellor may elect to engage in a planning-oriented conversation with you to determine if this modified appointment is viable to achieve your therapeutic goals and/or to plan for next-steps.
Question 8: Do you like working with young people and families affected by mental health and/or learning issues? Answer: We really do! Our team has dedicated their careers to making a difference in the lives of young people and families by providing supportive, therapeutic services that are evidence-based (i.e., safe & effective) with an aim to help improve the lives of young people, families, and communities we serve.
